Hello Joost - I just wanted to say thank you for this great plugin which helped me a lot with the optimization of my site.
I found this post because I experience the same issue, which results in no thumbnail shown in search results or when trying to share a post on Facebook or Google+.
I hope this is something easy to fix in a future release. Thank you for looking at it, I appreciate your support.
