Having just read http://googlenewsblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-reminder-about-promotional-and.html, I realized I needed to quickly do something about it and have Wordpress automatically place noindex tags on pages by a certain author (we have a sponsored.post user that authors sponsored posts). Other people might use a special category for doing the same instead.
It looks monumentally important to conform to these rules Google set, for obvious reasons, but setting such noindex value manually is not good enough as writers forget, things get lost behind, etc.
May I suggest adding being able to target posts in specified categories or by specified authors (not category pages or author pages but actual posts themselves) for noindex.
