I have seen others ask a similar question, but I haven’t seen a definitive answer.
Suddenly the “social” thumbnails selected in Yoast aren’t appearing on Facebook and Twitter.
Instead, on Facebook there’s a blank camera image alongside the meta description.
On Twitter, nothing shows at all — not even the meta description.
I’ve followed the various suggested troubleshooting steps; none has changed anything. That does include making sure Yoast SEO is checked in “Screen elements.” (Although the wording has been changed to “Yoast SEO Posts Overview”– which sounds very different than what it previously was named.)
I also have doublechecked the settings under “Search Appearance.”
Naturally, I have tried deleting the SEO folder, uninstalling Yoast and then re-installing Yoast.
The free version of Yoast SEO still allows you to select or upload a “social” thumbnail…but it simply isn’t showing up on the social sites.
Is this no longer a feature of the free version? To get that functionality, do you need to buy the paid version? (In reading the comparisons between the two, I don’t see a reference “defining social thumbnails” anywhere.)
And…If I pay $99 for the paid version and install it, will this “social thumbnails” issue magically be fixed?
