I am having a similar issue. I noticed Yoast sitemaps are returning 404 in webmaster and for some reason it isn't working for me on my site either. I have looked for suggestions on various forums but nothing is fixing the issue for me.
Would greatly appreciate any help as Yoast seems a better solution to Google XML Sitemaps with it submitting images.
