aqiyl2004 on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] How split the post sitemap by categories"
Instead of generating one large sitemap for posts, I would like to split the post sitemap into individual sitemaps that contain the urls for each category only. Can you help me please.
malvolio on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] Sitemap exists, but comes up as a 404 error in Google"
I have sitemaps enabled, and when I go to http://www.malvolio.com.au/sitemap_index.xml the sitemap exists...
However, I then attempted to submit it in Google Search Console, and it comes up with "General HTTP error: 404 not found".
I have found that sitemap_index.xml is not coming up in my FTP root folder, so I saved and uploaded the sitemap_index.xml manually, and then Google recognised it (but then couldn't recognise any of the sitemaps within it, again because the files don't exist even though you can reach them in any web browser). I would prefer that Yoast generates these files.
I've done a lot of searching for a solution, but I'm not coming up with much. I tried the Yoast htaccess rewrite code, disabled/enabled plugins, updated permalinks, deleted my cache...but to no avail.
Any advice/recommendations to get the sitemap files to show up as actual files to keep Google happy would be hugely appreciated!

Hello,
I'm not able to change my title meta tag, after clicking "save" It goes back to previous data, nothing changes.
anikitin35 on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] Word endings support for tag worlds."
Main plugin problem is the lack of support for the roots of words and declinable endings.
If we use the same words with different endings, the module does not count it.
I propose to add the ability to support such words.
A particular problem users receive from Cyrillic countries.
Adding keyword pattern matching to help solve this problem.
For example.
apple *apple*s
*слов*о *слов*а *слов*у
If you get it, you will definitely break all!

neotrope on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] Update Failed: Plugin update failed."
Might or might not be related.
I had previously reported an issue with updating Yoast SEO, originally the news add-on, and now also latest version of SEO PRO, when/if the wp-content directory has been renamed.
In our case, the updater, deletes old plugin, then can't find the plugin directory to install new version.
I don't think all versions of Yoast plugins look at the wp-config file to check custom path for /wp-content/ being something like /assets/ (as in our case).
Again, might not be your issue. But only way I was able to install the latest updates was to manually install via FTP as updater can't find plugin directory properly when re-named.
Might be some other issues related to that, if you have a custom folder setup, or other renaming going on.
Might be un-related, just food for thought, if it fits your situation. :-)
Otherwise, everything seems to be working just fine (whew!).

juiceboxint on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] v3.3 adds large whitespace to bottom of edit page when metabox collapsed"
This is using version 3.3.2. Steps to reproduce:
1. Collapse the Yoast SEO meta box on a post edit screen
2. Reload the edit screen so the SEO meta box defaults to collapsed
3. There will be about 300 pixels of whitespace at the bottom of the edit screen, after "Thank you for creating with WordPress!" and the end of the page.
This is due to an absolutely positioned div at the bottom of the screen that is set to 'visibility: hidden' instead of 'display: none':
<div><span style="width: auto; height: auto; position: absolute; visibility: hidden; white-space: nowrap">Page Title Here</span><span style="width: 0px; height: auto; position: absolute; visibility: hidden; ">Please provide a meta description by editing the snippet below.</span></div>
xbustercannon on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] Pages still showing up in Google after noindex is set"
Title pretty much explains it. I am trying to get my site ready for launch but I am having trouble with the links in the search engine. If you google "forefront arena" the first link you will get is the FAQ page then a profile page.
I don't want any of these showing up. I just want the homepage forefrontarena.com to be the first and only link (possibly a sign up and log in link, maybe).
Each of the pages have their individual settings on noindex, nofollow, and no archive. I feel like I am missing more but I do not know what. Please help
neotrope on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] Pages still showing up in Google after noindex is set"
Google can still index pages regardless of noindex setting. Used to be able to remove these from Google's search console, so might look there.
Also double check the pages in question really do have the noindex tag in the head HTML.
You can also resubmit your sitemap after checking the above, to force them to re-read pages. But doesn't always happen right away.
Make sure your sitemap up to date and working, also.
Not sure that helps. Just came to mind :-)
neotrope on "Yoast SEO version compatible with WP v. 4.0.12"
I would likely try 1.53 since earlier versions had injection vulnerability.

pro99 on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] How to tell search engines not to index certain pages?"
Hi,
We have sites with a structure like:
domain.com/install-1/author/name/page/##
domain.com/install-1/author/name/page/##
domain.com/install-2/author/name/page/##
domain.com/install-2/author/name/page/##
domain.com/install-3/author/name/page/##
domain.com/install-3/author/name/page/##
etc
Google is indexing these and often reporting 404s. is there a setting in Yoast or via the robots.txt file that we can implement, that asks search engines to ignore these pages? We assume that since the content shown is only a list of posts or a 404, that it would clean up the Webmaster console with no side effect.
neotrope on "[Plugin: Yoast SEO] How to tell search engines not to index certain pages?"
You can edit that on per page/post basis from Yoast box.
