Main category not showing in breadcrumb

Hi!

I have a post with two/three categories associated to it.

Category 1 (1) and Category 2 (2). Number two also has a sub category (2.1)

I select the sub category (2.1) to be the primary category. However, in the bread crumbs the category 1 always shows. I don’t understand how I can make the category sting 2 to show in the bread crumbs instead. I use the Yoast plugin to make the (2.1 category to be my primary category). Should’t that make that string appear in the breadcrumbs string?

Yoast doesnt recognize my siten content.

Hi. I have theme from colorlib (shapely). In theme the siten content is added inside widgets. My problem is that yoast doesnt recognize the content and shows in analyze that i have zero words on my page. Site is http://www.datapoint.fi

Strange Code in Meta Descriptions (Yoast, Visual Composer)

Hi everyone,

recently I noticed my meta descriptions for a certain article look “buggy”.

Problem: In the beginning of meta descriptions these Visual Composer code stuff appears:
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] => and then the normal meta descriptions follow..

For SEO purposes I’m using Yoast, the article was created with Visual Composer plugin.

The Visual Composer plugin has been used for lots of articles and I never noticed anything like that.

Does anyone know the solution for this problem?

False Plugin Conflict Info in Development Version

I just noticed this in the newly uploaded development version of the plugin.

That is patently false information, as these plugins do not use cloaking. No one from your team has contacted us to try to actually understand the functionality. If you believe it is cloaking, then you do not understand cloaking. We would have been happy to discuss this with your team.

I previously responded to these false claims by Yoast previously, and now this is an attempt to bully.

This is definitely retaliatory, and the carrying out of a threat from Yoast where he said he would do something like this, in response to a recent situation where we called Yoast out for attacking other plugin developers.

This is really not cool guys. That’s unprofessional, and a very, very corrupt practice in our opinion.

I configured page titles like:

But it search results “- logo” is showed always at the end of the SEO title

any ideas?

Hi,
We have been using Yoast SEO as our guidelines since we started as a company. It works fine, but recently, I realized there has been a fluctuation in the number of existing and indexed pages based on YOAST Sitemap in our webmastertool. We have currently more than 250 pages with more than 5000 pictures. It worked fine and showed there is only slight difference between the number of the existing and indexed pages and pictures. Now based on the sitemap, it only shows 148 and 147 indexed received pages URL and only 127 received and 106 indexed pictures.
Did we do any mistake here? and this happens mostly in our german website. it doesnt happen in our english website, eventhough the settings in yoast and everything are the same. What can I do to fixt it?

Sitemap post_modified ASC very slow on larger posts table

Hi, i hope you will see this topic 🙂

We have larger website with almost 500 000 records in wp_posts table. Issue is there with generation of sitemap, where are queries, that takes about 10 seconds. I saw this threat http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wordpress-seo-by-yoast-performance-suggestion and this optimizes query extecution time little bit, but there are still this issues:

1. there is ORDER BY wp_posts.post_modified ASC. This column has no key, so it’s very slow. I don’t know, how important is to have it ordered by modified time, but when is ordered by post_date column, query is significantly faster.
2. there is WHERE condition AND wp_posts.post_password = ” which also have no key

It’s possible to solve at least point 1? Thank you!

SEO > Titles & Metas page fails with not found

Whilst trying to find out why I am getting two sets of Title tags on all my pages I followed some suggestions about checking some of the Yoast settings.

Specifically Go to SEO > Titles and metas. When I do, I am sent to a 404 page.

Link was (after logging in)
http://www.mysite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_title

I don’t know why this happens, my other sites do not do this same versions and same plug ins.

Any suggestions as to
1. Why the page gives a Not Found
2. Why I am getting two Tile tags per page?

Primary Category not working

I am selecting one of my categories to be the primary category, however, it does not care about that and chooses the categories alphabetically in the breadcrumbs.

Please help, this is really frustrating.

We have two problems with Seo by Yoast:

1) In the general page of articles and webpage tthe title column i s very very street. How we can resolve this issue?

2) We have installate Yoast Seo and the Site Origin Editor but Yoast Seo does not work. It even gives a page content of 0 words. What we can do to fix it?

dears
i have a big issue with using yoast hope to find a solution for
i’am developing an arabic website and yoast are decoding arabic permalinks automatically for me and when i test on google every thing goes well except with tags , where only tags are encoded two times leading for a need of 2 phase decoding process on google inspite of one and that doesn’t happen leading for a 404 page for all arabic tags permalink

required :
someway to make tags permalinks encoded one time only not two times ,
note : the plugin works well with me in other arabic site and i can’t found any reason for doing this

Update programmatically terms meta_title and meta_description

Hello guys 🙂 !

When a term is created/saved, I would like to check if the meta_title or meta_description are empty. If yes, I would like to programmatically fill them with custom content. I’ve done something similar on post update with that :

/* If no metadesc, add default one */
  if(empty(get_post_meta($post_id, '_yoast_wpseo_metadesc', true))) {
    update_post_meta($post_id, '_yoast_wpseo_metadesc', '[service:meta_description]');
  }
  /* If no metatitle, add default one */
  if(empty(get_post_meta($post_id, '_yoast_wpseo_title', true))) {
    update_post_meta($post_id, '_yoast_wpseo_title', '[service:meta_title]');
  }

But it doesn’t work with terms because terms seo details are store in the wp_options table, in wpseo_taxonomy_meta. Is there a function or option to do something similar with terms ? And why term meta info are not stored as term meta like post with post meta ?

want to noindex one post

Hi, I am using Yoast. There is one post on my site that I wish to do noindex/dofollow.

When I look under the options, the only one dealing with noindex says “default for this post type.”

I do not want to noindex all posts (all my posts are just regular posts, so they are the same “type” as far as I know).

Is that option the way hto nofollow just THAT post? I really find the language unclear.

SEO title limit not working properly

Hi folks,

Newbie here. The SEO title limit not working properly. My understanding is the proper length of an SEO title is 50 characters. There appears to be no limit in the SEO title field. The field color stays green no matter how many characters I type. Anyone else run into this problem? All my WordPress sites at Siteground are running into this problem. I am using the DIVI template.
