Hi,

I am working on the referencing of a site based on a WordPress theme. The home page is set to “The latest articles” for the theme to work correctly. However, I can’t configure the keywords of the home page because there is no page itself. Is there a solution to reference the home page in this situation?

Image Attachment Page Best Practice?

$

I’m seeing Google indexing my image attachment page. On one hand it’s sort of bad as the user can click through and then potentially bounce due to lack of content, however my navigation is clear and simple to get to other pages. On the other hand, in some cases I’m occupying 3 of the top 6 organic search results: location specific landing page, location specific contact page, image attachment page for image used on landing page. If I prevent indexing of image attachments or redirect, then I’m only occupying 2 of the top 6 positions.

So is the consensus that the potential increased bounce rate of the image attachment page not worth having it indexed? I suppose maybe if I redirect all attachment pages it could have a minor positive effect on the parent page using it by transferring a little internal link juice?

But what about new pages with new images? If WordPress (with Yoast plugin) is providing an image attachment URL to Google to index, but then when Google goes to index the new image attachment page and just sees a redirect, that seems like it could be let’s say “curious” to Google? So would best practive be to redirect exsiting image attachment pages and turn of indexing of all new images? If this isn’t an option in Yoast, then how?

OG tags are set, but override won’t show on facebook debugger

I’ve been trying to update the facebook preview of a page, so I set the override in the page:
https://snag.gy/ZU2FSY.jpg

And in the source code it looks fine:
https://snag.gy/9Hiude.jpg

Except that in facebook’s debugger it won’t show the overrides I set in the page:
https://snag.gy/Gtk78R.jpg

1. I’ve updated the preview by clicking on the scraping button.
2. There is another strange issue, which is the page’s title showing like: “Daylight | San Francisco + Seoul + MunichVisualDesigner” being the first part the site’s description and “Visual Designer the page’s title. There should be a separator between them.

I looked everywhere, tried different tutorials but none shows a similar issue.

Weird focus keyphrase problem

Hi – Experienced this problem first time today. The Yoast SEO plugin will not accept my keyword phrase (it is listed in Google’s Keyword Planner). It appears that the plugin has focussed only on one word (sleep) in the 4-word keyword phrase and is rejecting the use of the entire phrase as a result. The word it is focussing on (sleep) is being used legitimately about 30 times throughout the blog post – I am not keyword stuffing, although your plugin seems to think I am. How can this be fixed so I can publish my post? Thanks!

Emoji is stripped from Yoast Title and Description when Saving

Hi,

I’m having an issue with adding Emoji’s to the Yoast Box Title & Description.

They appear to work but when I save the page/post the Emoji is stripped and the text reverts to it’s previous save state.

I can add Emoji’s to the WordPress title and within the post itself. The issue seems isolated to the WordPress Yoast Box.

A little research uncovered that it may be that the ‘wp_postmeta’ is utf8 and hasn’t upgraded to utfmb4? The site is older than the 4.2 upgrade. It’s a little beyond me how I would go about making this change though.

Is there an easy way to tell if the character set is the issue?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree and there’s another suggestion to fix this issue?

Note: I have a staging environment so happy to try things / break things 😀

Thanks in advance!

It looks like the CSS background: value for SVG icons for SEO scores (e.g. .yoast-seo-score .yoast-logo.svg in file metabox-902.min.css) are mangled in v9.0.2 of the plugin. SEO score icons are no longer displayed in the Publish postbox on editor pages.

Yoast SEO 9.0.2 browser crash

Hi there,

I recently experienced browser crashing every time i want to edit a post with the 9.0x versions of Yoast SEO
Wordpress is on latest version and i have visual composer installed on the wesbsite.
The theme used is “Jnews” a premium theme.
I experienced the issue on different windows versions and different browsers so actually we use the 8.0 version which is working correctly and doesn’t make the browsers to crash.

As you can imagine i don’t have any error logs because the browser completely crash and show the crash message.

Thanks to take a look and i hope we will have a fix in next release

Regards,

Herizo Ludovic

Google is Adding Site Name: to listed Google Title

$

Hi
Looking at your support forum I’m not sure if this is a case where Google is forcing its own rewrite of the page title in the listings, but we are getting the ‘Site Title:’ and then the set ‘SEO title’ set for the home page. The site name is simply the company name and not as important as the set page title and we are probably losing good SEO as a consequence.

In Google it reads:
German Language Coach: German Tutors London | Private German …
In Yoast it is set as:-
German Tutors London | Private German Lessons London | German Language Coach

The site is built on Twenty Twelve but the child them header is using:-
<title><?php wp_title(' '); ?></title>

Your input on why Google is not displaying correct title is appreciated.

Thanks

I assume it means the problem is in the db?

Title tag incorrectly overwritten by Yoast for non-post pages

I am using an event management plugin, EME, that works entirely on the basis of its own tables. An event is NOT merely a type of post. As a result, there is no way I can configure how Yoast SEO handles any of the event pages created by that plugin.
Unfortunately, Yoast is overwriting the title and the description tags for all the event pages. If I disable Yoast, those pages have the correct titles and descriptions, as assigned by EME.

So, my question is how to disable Yoast SEO’s overwriting the pages’ titles and descriptions.

Yoast 9.0.3
KK Star 2.6.1

Anybody experienced the same?

Submitting immages for indexing by Google

I note that some tools will produce an XML sitemap that lists not only pages, but images on the site as well.

Does anyone know if Yoast does this in any way, or does it rely on pages listed in the sitemap (containing images) to get Google to crawl and find/index them?

I know you can’t ‘force’ Google to index images buut I’d like to improve my chances of getting Googlle to use my immags if possible.

Add JSON-LD to posts

Hi,
As far I know Yoast SEO only outputs JSON-LD

  • to allow Google to recognize social profiles for use in the Knowledge graph and
  • to allow recognition of the internal search engine

(see https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/wordpress-seo/tags/9.0.3/frontend/class-json-ld.php).

What’s the reason the plugin does not provide JSON-LD for regular blog posts?
Is it on purpose or has it simply not been implemented yet?

Thanks!

P. S.: A similar question (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/yoast-seo-schema-details/) has not been answered and is closed to new replies.

I can’t put external links in the “social” option anymore. Why? Help.

Today I had a very unpleasant surprise when opening the “social” option of Yoast Seo and find that I could no longer use external links of images to change the featured image of Facebook.

Unfortunately I do not have how to host in my own server such images since the availability of space I have is small, making it necessary to use external services to store the images apart.

Basically, the stripe where I put the links of the images becomes dark, and I can not paste anything inside it..

And now, what do I do?
