Everything was fine untill Monday when the traffic on my webite started to slow down.

Today I noticed that the Pages on my website could not be read by Google.

I went into my site and checked Yoast SEO XML Site map on the Pages I found this:

“This page contains the following errors: error on line 125 at column 17: Extra content at the end of the document Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.”

I am using the latest (Free) version of Yoast can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and how I can get it back to normal.

Thanks in Advance
Toby

Schema Question…Again

Hi guys,

Thought I’d ask this again, seeing as it got conveniently dodged the last time I asked it.

This new schema that is now operated by Yoast – does it replace other schema plugins?

At present I’m using ‘Rich Snippets’ for my schema which is really easy to use – but if the Yoast version does the same thing then it’s pointless me keeping it, yes?

Speaking of ‘easy to use’, how do you arrange posts, pages, CPT’s etc into their relevant schema types, such as ‘article’, ‘product’, ‘person’, etc as there seems to be no option to do this with Yoast?

Thanks for any info!

Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in …/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/frontend/schema/class-schema-utils.php on line 26.

Through debugging the code, the issue seems to arise when the value of $user_id passed in to the function get_user_schema_id is zero. This results in $user = get_userdata($user_id); returning false, and a PHP Notice that $user is a non-object.

No other plugins installed and Twenty Nineteen active.

No: ‘noindex’ detected in ‘X-Robots-Tag’ http header

Hi There, When I submit sitemap.xml on search console there show couldn’t fetch. and when i click live test they show fetch is successful but also show Indexing allowed?: No: ‘noindex’ detected in ‘X-Robots-Tag’ http header.

One said from google console

The ‘noindex detected in the x-robots tag’ is no problem for the sitemap file itself.. It is normal practice to assign the ‘noindex’ to the sitemap file.
You do not want to show the sitemap file itself in the google Search results.

Search Console often shows ‘can not fetch’ when the sitemap file is pending (like it showed in the old console) in earch coneole.

I Understand. Couldn’t fetch means pending but how long take to index means show successful sitemap on search console?

Blog posts not getting indexed

Hello!

For some reason Google Search Console is telling me that all of my blog posts have a noindex tag. When I look in the HTML code I can not find a “noindex” tag though. However I can tell that my blog posts are not getting indexed in Google so I need to solve it. Right now I am looking for a way to change the noindex tag on my blog posts.

In SEO Yoast – Under search appearance – I have the “show posts in search results” to ON.

I read that you should be able to change the noindex-tag on individual posts in the advanced metabox. I do not not have this advanced metabox that includes changing the noindex-tag though. This despite having “Security – no advanced settings for authors” set to OFF.
I tried following these steps but I still can not see an advanced metabox: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-do-i-noindex-urls/

The only things I can see in the metabox on an individual post are:

Standard for post, at the moment: yes
Should search engines follow links on this post? Yes
Meta-robots advanced – Standard for the whole website: None
Canonical URL: empty

Is the more advanced metabox a premium thing?

I really really must get these pages indexed but I can’t find a way to edit this. Can you give me some advice on how to solve this?

Breadcrumbs missing “name” or “item.name”

The problem people are reporting with breadcrumbs originating with Google’s new breadcrumb reports: https://twitter.com/googlewmc/status/1174693878835875840

The issue happens on wordpress auto-generated pages (such as attachment pages) where the attachment title is empty. It isn’t clear why some attachment titles are left empty; perhaps an issue that occurred during upload.

Yoast could probably resolve the issue for most by having an fallback title for instances where the title is empty. For example, the title could be set to the url as a backup.

breadcrumbs snippet variable vs. google search console – Either “name” or “it

Hi,
when I look at snippet variables list of yoast, there is so, that the “name” snippet variable regards to “post/page author’s ‘nicename’”, so if I well understand it is connected with the name of an author of an item (post). The snippet variable “title” means name of the post according to yoast.
In google classification “name” means ” The name of the item.”, so it a title of a post (item).

So it looks it is not compatible at all. Is it?

Will the FAQ block accept more HTML formatting soon?

$

Hi,

I’ve noticed that if I try to set up a list in an answer, using the Yoast FAQ block, it is not possible – at least not without switching to the code editor. But then, if I do that, and go back to visual editor, I get this message saying that the block has invalid content: https://cloudup.com/c3o-N0o-Cd3

If I click to resolve, then click to convert to blocks, it will switch the whole block to HTML. It can not be reverted back to the FAQ block, unless I click on the block editor’s ‘back’ or ‘undo’ button twice. Then I get the old content without my HTML changes.

I also noticed there is no way to make content bold or italics, add a hyperlink, etc. If I paste content with italics or a hyperlink, it is maintained in the block’s formatting. The formatted lists pasted into the block become paragraphs separated by br tags, however.

Inserting a shortcode causes the shortcode characters to end up in the schema markup for the question, which doesn’t make for nice readability on the SERPs, though it does validate.

My question is:

Will the Yoast FAQ block eventually allow for more HTML formatting, or other WP inputs, like shortcodes?

At first I saw that the initial answer inputted into the block creates a paragraph tag with a special class. I wondered if this meant that answers could only have one paragraph, and perhaps this was the reason for creating the breaks and removing certain HTML elements when pasting in an answer.

However, it seems like, according to the following sample markup from Google, HTML lists are allowed in the json+ld markup?

https://search.google.com/test/rich-results?utm_campaign=devsite&utm_medium=jsonld&utm_source=faq-page

This is also confirmed explicitly here: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/faqpage

I understand that the SERPs may only show the first paragraph (if that), when showing the FAQ rich result. However, for page formatting, for site visitors, I find it is really necessary to have these HTML elements. For example, including lists makes it much easier to read an answer’s points. It also is semantic HTML markup.

But this seems impossible to set up with the Yoast SEO block, without losing the ability to edit the answers in the same block editing format later.

I also had trouble entering images in answers, in any spot. I see that one single image can be added at the end of an FAQ answer, which I imagine is for the structured data output? But, formatting-wise, if I wanted my page to look a certain way, with an image say, to the left of the first paragraph, or second paragraph, I can’t do that in the FAQ block (unless I couldn’t figure it out?).

So right now, it seems like the FAQ block is mostly set up for generalized questions with one paragraph answers and no formatting needs?

Do you think this can, or will improve in the future? Such as getting Tiny MCE in there, or something to allow for more HTML tags? Or is there a restriction in doing that from a logical standpoint, like if it would create problems in the json+ld output?

Thanks!

Change redirect

I have Yoast premium a couple of years ago in my WooCommerce I change my shop settings allowing more items per page. This caused errors in the search console. So like for Page 3 of my copper pendants it redirected it to page 1. That was find. No I need to be able to get to page three due to having enough products that I need a page 3. It of course sends me page 1. I went into my redirects and tried deleting the page 3 directs but it is not working how can I remove that redirect. I tried to edit the redirect and have it point back to the original url but it will not allow you to do that. I am trying to find a way to access page 3 on the front side.

Does “Save All” only work in premium now? I’ve noticed on all of my sites it no longer works. Disabled all plugins and tried different themes. no difference. Save all does not work on any WordPress installation. I’ve checked on 10 different sites running on different themes. Save works, but only after refreshing the page every time.
