Primary Category

Hi Yoast Team,

I have been searching online for hours, but cannot find a straight answer to my question.

In order to have only the primary category in the product breadcrumbs and URL, do you need to have the premium Yoast plugin, or the paid Woocommerce Yoast plugin? Or should this option work with the free version straight out of the box?

Kind regards
Stacy

Hi there
Yoast free is not picking up and reading text on three of my pages, although its picking text up on others.

It is telling me that readability is unavailable and that I have 0 text when in fact I have quite a lot of text on those pages.

I am running Optimizepress2 with Yoast

I have had the Php increased as it seemed to be timing out but that has not worked.

Any help appreciated.

Sitemap doesn’t update

Hello,

I want to exclude a page from my sitemap, so I went to the Yoast box on that page and selected NO on “Allow search engines to show this Page in search results?”

Then I went to the plugin configuration, and deactivated/reactivated the sitemap feature.

The website isn’t using caching plugin, and I’m not detecting caching at the server lever.

Still, the page that I want to exclude from the sitemap is still appearing.

How can I solve this?

Thanks.

How to prevent Woocommerce shop page appearing on product-sitemap.xml?

I noindex and tried following code with functions.php but nothing removes it from product sitemap.

add_filter( ‘wpseo_sitemap_post_type_archive_link’, ‘my_wpseo_cpt_archive_link’, 10, 2);
function my_wpseo_cpt_archive_link( $link, $post_type ) {
// Disable product/post archives in the sitemaps
if ( $post_type === ‘product’ )
return false;
return $link;
}

Can you help me please!

Hello everyone,

For some reason, the articles I’m posting every week on my blog don’t appear on Google search results…
They are correctly indexed in the sitemap and I have checked all the settings within the Yoast Plugin. The articles are SEO friendly.
Would you be able to help me with this issue?
Thanks !

Featured image does not appear on Google Mobile Search

Hi I am using a free version of Yoast SEO. Under the snippet section, I saw that the plugin is supposed to show a featured image for mobile search. So when I search my own website (see my sample link) on my mobile, it throws up a search result without the featured image. Only the text link was available.

May I know if I did something wrong? Why is the featured image for that page not shown on the mobile search result?

For all the rest of the links, is there a way to show featured image for desktop search results as well?

Awaiting your help on this.

noindex expired job listings

Hello!

I am trying to add a custom code custom code using the Yoast developer filter wpseo_robots that will make my Yoast SEO plugin automatically set expired job pages to ‘noindex’.

I’ve been told to look at this code example to see how the filter can be used, and I’ve tried to add this:

add_filter( ‘wpseo_robots’, ‘yoast_seo_robots_remove_single’ );

function yoast_seo_robots_remove_single( $robots ) {
if ( job_is_Expired ) {
return ‘noindex,nofollow’;
} else {
return $robots;
}
}

but it is not working – as I don’t know what condition I should be putting in the ‘if’

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with this.

Thanks a lot!

I have taken over the SEO on a WordPress site and get the following issue ”noindex’ detected in ‘robots’ meta tag’ when trying to index in Google Search Console- yet all the settings in Yoast (and WordPress) are set to ‘Show Posts in search results’. Is this a known issue and is there a solution?

No twitter:image tag despite other tags present

Hi folks,

When images weren’t showing up in Twitter posts for our site I realised that the source code is missing the twitter:image tag. Here’s the full batch of social meta data from the source:

<meta property="og:locale" content="en_US">
<meta property="og:type" content="article">
<meta property="og:title" content="Shenstone garden centre ready to reopen restaurant after coronavirus closure - Lichfield Live">
<meta property="og:description" content="A Shenstone garden centre says it has taken a number of steps to allow an in-store restaurant to reopen.">
<meta property="og:url" content="https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/2020/07/02/shenstone-garden-centre-ready-to-reopen-restaurant-after-coronavirus-closure/">
<meta property="og:site_name" content="Lichfield Live">
<meta property="article:published_time" content="2020-07-02T11:52:07+00:00">
<meta property="article:modified_time" content="2020-07-02T11:54:19+00:00">
<meta property="og:image" content="https://lichfieldlive.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Dobbies-Garden-Centre-Exterior1.jpg">
<meta property="og:image:width" content="1200">
<meta property="og:image:height" content="675">
<meta property="fb:app_id" content="739340609540421">
<meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image">
<meta name="twitter:creator" content="@lichfieldlive">

As you can see, og:image appears fine and the other twitter: meta properties are there, but not twitter:image.

My settings have the “Summary with large image” selected, and the featured image for the post is a decent 1200×675 image. The post-specific settings do not override the details

I am running WP 5.4.2 with Yoast SEO 14.4.1

Any idea what could cause the tag to not appear?

Yoast not overwriting “Just another WordPress Site”

Hi,

I use Yoast to write metadescriptions for all my pages. I also, in the Theme customisation options, changed the site’s tagline so it no longer reads “Just another wordpress site.”

However, using an analysis tool, I can see that Yoast has been adding a second Metadiscription and not overwriting the first on all pages and leaving “Just Another…” on all pages:

e.g.

Title

Meta Description
#1
Just another WordPress site
#2
Fog brings some fantastic opportunities for photography. Enjoy this gallery of photos shot on misty, moist mornings in Northumberland.

I can individually change that on each page and post by deleting the Yoast metadescription and then adding it to BeTheme’s SEO settings, but that does not give the same feedback as Yoast. After doing that, I would uninstall Yoast. Furthermore, this would be an enormously arduous task right across my site.

(Also, I have noticed that the metadescription length on Yoast, although showing in green, is too long for the Google search results and invariably results in it ending “…”)

problem with product category pagination feed

Hello,
I’m having some problems with the meta description entered for the categories of products on woocommerce.
Even if it has been inserted, it is seen by google correctly only for the first page, while the following pages of the same category are loaded with a series of short product descriptions that should remain hidden.

The main problem is not to upload short product descriptions in google feeds.

Some examples for my lineastradale.com site
if I am looking for “linea stradale cilindri” results are correct.

if I look for “linea stradalegiuliani ” (where giuliani is a word included in the short product description) the pagination of the category loads the short descriptions of the products with this address: https://www.lineastradale.com/categoria-prodotto/ricambistica/cilindri/page/2/

So, how can i make all the secondary pages look the same as the first for every category?
Thanks for support
Antonio

Upgrade WordPress to the most recent version, that affect the SEO of your site.

I got this message from Yoast Plugin: “Upgrade WordPress to the most recent version
We’ve noticed that you’re not on the latest WordPress version, which might cause an issue soon. Yoast (for reasons of security and stability) only supports the current and previous version of WordPress. When the next version of WordPress comes out, that means that we will support WordPress 5.2 and 5.3. This means you will not get any updates to Yoast SEO until you update your WordPress, so please make sure to upgrade to the latest WordPress version soon!”

However my website is actually running on WordPress 5.4.2 Version. I am not sure why I got this notification and if I should address it further?

The title I’ve entered in Yoast settings is:
Dog Friendly Cottages & Holidays With Pets | Dog Friendly Retreats

I’ve checked that this is correct in the source code.

Yet Google displays it like this with the company name at the start.

Dog Friendly Retreats: Dog Friendly Cottages & Holidays With Pets

Is there a way to fix this, so company appears at the end of the title in Google search?

In the process of reviewing any potential old domain links, finding that the yoast_seo_links database table has an entry for my old domain wordpress admin site.

url is my old staging site admin url
post_id is 2

Can I safely just edit directly in the DB to use my current domain admin URL?

“Bing verification code”

Hello,

Where I can find “Bing verification code” after verifying the site.

Please do not close the ticket, like the other ones I have saw, and say “oh your site is already verified you don’t need it’ and of course, the question wasn’t answered. The question is specific, “where I can find Bing verification code”, regardless if my site is verified or not.

Where can I find “Bing verification code” through the Website itself, or any where. Bing Webmaster page is not as humane as Google’s Analytics. And I couldn’t find a way yet to have Bing Webmaster site to let me view the verification code.

I cannot find my Bing Verification Code, and would like to have a copy of it. Is there a way I can extract it from my site, or ping some IP to get it, or a tool that can help me achieve that?

add_filter(‘wpseo_opengraph_image_size’, ‘mysite_opengraph_image_size’);
function mysite_opengraph_image_size($val) {
return ‘facebook’;
}

I have changed it to

Which works and uses the medium image as my facebook image however the image that I have set as my organization logo I would like to use the original size. Do you know how this can be achieved? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Start processing and speed up your site now Problem

Hello,

I installed Yoast SEO 14.4.1, the Start processing and speed up your site now doesn’t disappear. I installed Yoast Test Helper ans reset ‘Reset Indexables tables & migrations’ but still have the same problem.

Regards,

Follow all this steps and didn’t work, its a multisite environment and only works for some sites

Hi @zyrgon!

After clicking on the “Reset indexables & migrations” button, can you please uninstall your existing Yoast SEO installation and install it again? Please follow these steps

Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
Hit the “Reset indexables & migrations” button
Delete your current Yoast SEO installation
Install version 14.4.1
Click the “Click here to speed up your site now” button
Just an FYI, all the settings you’ve done in the Yoast plugin are saved in the database. So even if you remove the plugin and install it again, your settings are safe.

For the health and safety of your site, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before installing, updating or removing plugins.
